My Name is Nena

As they say, when one door closes another door opens.  Foster dog Jojo, now called Joey, is living the great life with her new family.  Her adoption and journey to her forever home opened up our home for another very deserving dog named Nena.  Below is Nena's first of many blog posts documenting her journey to her forever home!

My name is Nena and I am the new foster dog living with the Gills.  I sniffed around and figured out that their first foster dog was a young puppy.   I've had my own puppies so I've got a little more life experience but I am JUST as sweet, let me tell you!  Life has been a bit of a whirlwind but I am settling in nicely.

The nice thing about us dogs is that we live in the now.  I don't dwell on where I've been but instead enjoy the present moment.  Like truck rides, bathes, walks, treats and snuggles!  What is in the past is in the past, the only thing you should know is that I am as sweet as they come!

Over the weekend I was living my days out at MCAS then I got to spend a quick day or two at Family Dog New Life which was fun.  Then yesterday a lady, who I call Nice Lady, leashed me up and put me in the truck for a long ride to her home.  Nice Lady commented about how polite I was in the truck, look at how nicely I'm sitting in the backseat:

I wasn't scared at all, just took in all the sights and sounds.  When we got home Nice Lady set up a big comfy crate for me and put in the huge blanket which is super soft and fluffy...I LOVE it!

Don't let the flash in my eyes fool you, I was so happy to have a soft fluffy place to call my own!
Nice Lady said I smelled bad and I'll be honest, I did.  So she made me take a bath.  I did try to jump out once but then I got used to is and tolerated her making me wet and scrubbing me.  I felt great afterwards and now she tells me how nice I smell!

Nice lady takes a lot of pictures so I try to move around and make it hard for her to do so.  Every minute she spends trying to take my picture is time she could have been cuddling me!  She takes me outside to what she says is her yard.  She lets me off the leash but I tend to stick right next to her.  Why wander away when I can stay and get pets and treats.  Look how great I do with taking treats and listening!!

I also met Nice Mister last night!  He took me on a long walk and told me how nicely I walk.  I thought to myself, of course I walk nicely, I'm a nice girl!  It was nice for him to tell me how nice I am though!

Time for a quick nap in the little bit of sunshine coming through the window.  So much to see, smell and learn with Nice Lady and Nice Mister.  Nice to meet you!!

Hugs and Wags, Nena

I'm Home

Foster lady kept telling me that big changes were coming my way and that I was such a lucky girl!  I kept wondering what she was talking about, a new jacket maybe?  A tank top since it's getting nice out, maybe a new toy?  Let me tell you, I got so excited that I decided I should probably rest up for these big changes!!

So the first big change was not at all enjoyable.  I now know what spay means and let me tell you, I made sure to whine and complain and let everyone know that losing some of my lady parts hurt!  Foster lady gave me these pills she called sleepy time pills.  Every time she gave me one I felt WAY better and also WAY tired!

Foster mister and I were both tired after a long day of preparing for my changes!
I kept thinking to myself, this change wasn't anything to be excited about, it hurt and made me sleepy and I couldn't play with anyone.  However, I still looked cute!

Super cute!
So after a few days of being sleepy, Sunday came and we got all packed up in the car.  Foster lady and foster mister kept telling me I was going to my new home.  I was so excited and couldn't wait to find out what this new home was all about.  We parked and got out to stretch our legs.  All of a sudden some familiar faces showed up, Carrie, Monique and Cinco the dog!  I was so excited to see all of them and they gave me a brand new rain jacket, yes!!  The way to my heart is through new clothing that makes me look cute and keeps me warm!  I gave Cinco some kisses and she told me that she was my new older sister and that I was lucky to have such a sweet older sister to look out for me.  Sounds good to me!  This was the big change foster lady was telling me about and let me tell you, this was a GRRRREAT change!  I am so excited to have my FURVER family, they are awesome and I can't wait to share my adventures and cute pictures with everyone to see how great they are!!

Ready for our walk with my new rain jacket on, they know me so well!!
So that ends the story of Jojo the foster dog and begins the story of Jojo (maybe I'll get a new name which is fine by me!) the found her FUREVER home and couldn't be happier dog!

Hugs and wags, Jojo!

Almost Home

Foster lady says I'm almost ready to go to my FOREVER home!  I can't wait!  I got to go on an adventure to the farm this weekend.  The farm is the most wonderful place full of so many smells I got a little overwhelmed!  I got to meet a donkey, she scared me and I barked at her.  I met some geese, they also scared me but in my defense they tried to attack me so I barked out of fear!  Foster mister picked me up to look at the other animals and I wasn't so afraid anymore.

There is a wildlife refuge on the farm (Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center) and I got to see an owl nestling and some baby squirrels and other cute furry creatures. Here is the owl, he was more afraid than me than I was of him.  He got to go back to his home on Monday!

I wasn't afraid of the other animals because I was being held up high.  I think I could be friends with most of the animals on the farm, but not the geese.  They even chased foster lady and she ran away from them screaming so I don't feel so bad for barking!

I met this bird named Zack.  He is really loud and kind of mean I was told, so I kept my distance so he couldn't bite me.  I didn't bark or anything, we just looked at each other.

I was so tired from such a great day of playing and smelling and seeing new things!  I get spayed tomorrow and then after two recovery days I get to go home!  I'm not sure about this whole spay thing but I know I can't hardly wait until Sunday!

My outfits

I started to write about all the cool things I've done lately and the cool things happening to me when all of a sudden I realized almost all of the pictures foster mom took of me I was wearing outfits.  I must say, I look pretty darn cute in all of them!

So let's start with cool things happening in my life.  First of all, um, I'm ADOPTED! I know I know, pretty big deal huh?!  I am so excited to live with my forever family.  Foster lady told me that things still needed to be finalized but to me, it's a done deal!  Not only do I have forever people but I also am getting an older sister named Cinco and a CAT!  I can't wait!  Foster mom says she is going to beg and plead for pictures and updates since I'm so cute!

On my way to meet my new family!  I ride really well in the car and love looking at everything as we drive by!

Okay, second cool thing that happened?  I have an eyebrow on the white side of my face!  Okay, so I know this is weird, but foster lady said now that my skin is healed up I gained a brown eyebrow on the white side of my face, which makes me even cuter!

Say what?  I have an eyebrow and a forever home?!

Third cool thing?  I got to go for a sleep over at Leah's house!  I had SOOO much fun, I can't even begin to explain.  Apparently I forgot my potty training skills, but come on, I had 3 little dogs to play with and just couldn't contain myself!  I promise next time I'll be better!

Foster sister and brother got to go to the beach but I didn't mind because I got to go to Leah's!  When we got home, foster sister and I got to wear our jackets.  Mine is a rain jacket that I wear when it's raining outside and I don't want to go potty.

We're pretty cute!
However, if I don't go potty like I'm supposed to, I have to go in my crate until I'm ready.  I try to look REALLY sad, but it doesn't fool foster lady.  Could you resist this face?!

I'm a good actress!
Alright, that's all for now!  I have my spay appointment next week and then I go to my forever home!  Can't wait!!!

Jojo's Day O' Fun

Wow, today was SO much fun! It all started with tons of snuggling on the couch since I woke everyone up at 7:00am.  Foster lady said she wasn't ready to be up, so we snuggled on the couch!  Then, when it was time to wake up foster mister, I was allowed on the bed.  Next thing I know, Phoenix the CAT jumped on the bed and started wrestling with me!

He is missing most of his bottom front teeth so when he bites me it doesn't hurt

Hugs!!

I let him win because I love him so much and don't want him to be scared of me

I wish we could wrestle all the time!
Here is a picture of Phoenix, he's my favoritest CAT, mainly because he's the only CAT I know.

Phoenix used to live on I5 but now lives with foster mister and foster lady full time.  He thinks he is a dog but I had to tell him he is a CAT
Here are two cute pictures of me post wrestling to show you how much better my skin is!

Yupp, I'm pretty cute!
So after we wrestled we all got to go on a walk!  Best part, after I got stuck in the back yesterday foster lady told me I could now go to the park!  I didn't know what a park was until today and I LOVE them!  It was cold out this morning so Remi and I got to wear our jackets.  Po doesn't have a jacket, he says it's big dog de-scrim-i-nation.  I don't know what that means except that he doesn't have a jacket like us ladies!

We walked for awhile and then came to the park!  Po showed me his favorite pond:

And Remi took me along the path to the grass she likes to play in:

I really like going on walks, I'm pretty good at it and I love walking with Po and Remi.  Foster lady calls us her pack!
We usually have to walk right beside her, but when we got to the park we could walk in front as long as we didn't pull her, it was AWESOME!

Po is a really brave dog, braver than me and Remi.  He climbed in the yellow tube thing and foster lady tried to get a picture.  Us ladies didn't want to participate but she got a decent one:

This was my most favorite day ever!  I'm so glad I can go to parks now, can't wait until we go again!  Foster lady tells me I'm about to get really sleepy so it's time to go.  She gave me a little pink pill for my itchies and told me it was sleepy time!

C.U.T.E

I am one seriously cute puppy.  Let me tell you, I don't even try, it just comes naturally.  Quick Friday post to show you how cute I am!

Snuggling with Po, looking cute as always

Using Po as a prop to look extra cute!

Sound asleep and I still look cute!

I might be in the background, but I'm clearly the cutest of all!
Hope everyone has a great Friday!

xoxo Jojo
